We are a volunteer-run nonprofit that raises funds to enhance public education in Winters, California.

With uncertain funding, Winters schools face growing gaps, and our community must step up to fill them. Because of local support, since 2009, Winters Education Foundation has awarded over $500,000 to support local classrooms, district-wide programs, and opportunities for all students.

Mini-Grants bring local teachers’ dreams into reality.

Each year, Mini-Grants fund projects across Winters Joint Unified School District. Applications typically open in the fall and offer up to $2,000 per project. All teachers receive an invitation to apply. Sign up for our newsletter to make sure you don’t miss the opportunity.

Thanks to a grant the Winters community made possible, kindergarten students recently created beautiful clay tile gifts for special people in their lives. 🎨 For kindergarteners, creativity is hands-on and joy-filled! Since today is President's Day, it's fitting to ask: Do you know who was President when gold was discovered near Coloma in 1948? Flexible Seating = Focused Learning 📚 “A lot of my students love to read and would benefit from seeing themselves represented in literature,” Morgan Perez told us. Now, with a grant from Winters Education Foundation, her classroom library will feature a wider range of voices, cultures, and lived experiences — giving 7th and 8th graders at new ways to connect with stories and one another! 🦇 Science has never been this lively! With donor support, Kathy Lester and the 1st-grade team are inviting NorCal Bats to visit classrooms with live bats, helping students learn about habitats, life cycles, and why bats matter in our ecosystem. This is a cool one! After third graders in Ramona Torres’s Dual Language class read Rise Up and Write It, they were inspired to think about ways to improve their school. The most popular idea that emerged was adding more Spanish-language books to the school library. Students in Joanie Bryant's classes at Waggoner will “travel” the globe from their classroom! 🌎 With a Winters Education Foundation Mini-Grant made possible by community donations, she'll replace a tattered globe with new globes and maps of the world, United States, and Mexico. Students will use them to locate where their families are from and where stories take place!
